The Chemotion ELN was initiated in the working group of Stefan Brรคse at the Institute of Organic Chemistry (IOC)/Institute of Biological and Chemical Systems (IBCS) of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Currently, the software is developed by developers working at the north campus of the KIT and developers at the universities Jena, Braunschweig, Halle and RWTH Aachen.

For the use of the Chemotion ELN and Repository, Chrome is recommended. Other browsers such as Firefox or Edge only allow limited functionalities in some areas of the application regarding the Chemotion systems (e.g. collection management and ChemSpectra).

๐๏ธ Barcodes and QR-codes
The Chemotion ELN supports the generation and reading of barcodes and QR codes in two sizes. Both size options were tested with the following printer:

For using the inventory collection with differnt users that can move items into or create items in the inventory, please update the system to version 1.1.1 or later ones
๐๏ธ Import
Samples can be imported to chemotion ELN by uploading a simple excel list that contains the structure of the sample as Smiles string.
